President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will take part in the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS Nations) in Dushanbe on September 28. This was reported by the press service of the Kazakh leader.
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a regional intergovernmental organisation of 10 post-Soviet republics in the EurAsian region formed following the dissolution of the USSR. The CIS encourages cooperation over economic, political and military aspects and has certain powers possessing coordinating in trade, finance, lawmaking and security. It has also promoted cooperation on cross-border crime prevention.
“Within the framework of the event, there will be an exchange of views on the prospects for cooperation between the Commonwealth Nations, as well as issues of further enhancing the effectiveness of the organization.
It is expected that the head of state will hold a series of bilateral meetings on the summit’s fields, “the statement said. Additionally, Nursultan Nazarbayev will make working trips to the Turkestan region and the city of Shymkent.
