The service held a live-fire target practice through the mountains at its AXALP air show.

A video of the show has gone viral on the internet.

Many have dubbed the demonstration, which took place at the Ebenfluh shooting range near the Axalphorn summit (7,614 feet) in central Switzerland, the finest air show ever seen.

“The program of the 2021 edition included strafing runs with F/A-18C/D Hornet fighter jets, a demo display of the Pilatus PC-21 trainer, a Special Forces operation, firefighting operations, and demonstrations of the flight characteristics of the Cougar helicopter and F/A-18 – a special guest in the form of the beautiful ‘Tiger’ Hunter and the Patrouille Suisse,” reported the Aviation Geek Club.

The Axalp Air Power Demonstration which derives its name from the Axalphorn peak dates back to World War II, when General Guisan proposed that both Swiss military personnel and citizens flee to the mountains, owing to the prospect of a Nazi German invasion.
