China’s ‘Demobilized’ People’s Liberation Army Face Unemployment Due To COVID-19

As for China’s perception and info Ops against India, the People’s Liberation Army uses Global Times (which has a fair degree of readership in India) to send deliberate messages by reporting stories.

Many demobilized People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers in big and medium-sized cities are currently facing unemployment or under-employment because of slowing down of the economy, sources said.

India-China Border Clash: India Has 2 Options – Accept Losses or Counter China: US Experts

Most of them (People’s Liberation Army) were demobilized between 2015 and 2018. Their number is said to be close to 300,000. Because of the 2016 decision, most of them were given only a lumpsum payment.

They were working as delivery boys, or as bearers in hotels, restaurants and salespersons in malls and shops etc. The technically qualified ones joined manufacturing units.

There have been small size demos asking for special help from the government by these ex-soldiers in various cities. While not yet alarming, local authorities see these agitations as generators of negative sentiments against govt and party and discouraging for potential future recruits, the sources said.

People’s Liberation Army – Senior Officer

Nearly 300 of them above the rank of Senior Colonel (Brigadier equivalent in our system) – were sacked for corruption between 2015 and 2018. Many of them were let go without being arrested. It is suspected that some of these officers are also instigating these demonstrations, they further said.

What Musharraf Could Not Achieve Against India, China Is Trying To Do It For Pakistan: Experts

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with a People’s Liberation Army’s delegation, and his remark led to much discussion in India. This sentence is what launched a thousand TV debates: “He (Xi) ordered the military to think about worst-case scenarios, scale up training and battle preparedness, promptly and effectively deal with all sorts of complex situations and resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests.” But also note this sentence.

“He demanded good planning on the next five-year plan. On defence expenditure, Xi said every penny must be well spent to produce maximum results.” Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Chinese leadership appears to be pushing ahead with the centenary goal planned for the year.

Donald Trump To Sign ‘Uighur Human Rights Act Bill’ Into Law; Downturn For US-China Ties?

As for China’s perception and info Ops against India, the People’s Liberation Army uses Global Times (which has a fair degree of readership in India) to send deliberate messages by reporting stories.

“Since the Doklam standoff with India in 2017, the Chinese military has expanded its arsenal with weapons like the Type 15 tank, Z-20 helicopter and GJ-2 drone that should give China the advantage in high-altitude conflicts should they arise, Chinese analysts said on Sunday.

China’s Type 15 tank made its public debut at the National Day military parade on October 1 last year.

With a powerful engine, the Type 15 lightweight main battle tank can effectively operate in plateau regions difficult for heavier tanks, and with its advanced fire control systems and 105-millimetre calibre armour-piercing main gun, it can outgun any other light armoured vehicles at high elevations, the experts told the Global Times on Sunday.

China Warns Australia Of ‘Economic Punishment’; Tourism, Students Just ‘Tip Of The Iceberg’

China’s most advanced vehicle-mounted howitzer, the PCL-181, also debuted at the parade.

At 25 tons, the PCL-181 is lighter, faster and can endure longer than the previous 40-ton self-propelled howitzer on crawler tracks.

It can digitally deploy its gun at the press of a button, with automatic calibration and semi-automatic reloading. The idea is to portray the People’s Liberation Army as militarily far superior to the Indian military and create doubts in Indians mind.

Economy

While the Covid-19 aftermath has slowed down the manufacturing activity, the service sector is slowly picking up pace. Online shopping has slowed down but eating out joints are doing brisk business through takeaways and deliveries.

In manufacturing, China is facing the heat. There are no fresh orders from the US and European markets. Indian and Australian sentiment is negative and recent legal measures by India and Australia is making Chinese and China-based MNCs nervous, the sources said.

Anti-China ‘QUAD Alliance’ Between US, India, Australia & Japan Could Soon Be A Reality

China is especially worried that countries in Quad plus three (New Zealand, South Korea and Vietnam) will take away the manufacturing part. In fact, an internal survey showed that foreign multi-nationals are now planning on a China plus One model. Which means they will keep some basic factory in china but will move out the bulk to any of these seven countries.

The nervousness was reflected in the National People’s Congress. It did not set any specific GDP target for the year while the fiscal deficit target of 3.6% was set.

Nearly 2 trillion yuan of transfers for local governments was sanctioned; It was announced that a special transfer payment mechanism will be set up to ensure that funds go straight to prefecture and county governments.

The announcement stressed that these funds are not be used for “non-designated” purpose. In other words, expect more discipline inspections and tightening anti-corruption steps heading into 2022. Premier Li Keqiang spoke about the need to tighten belts, with the central government announcing a 50 percent cut to outlays on non-essential and non-obligatory items.

Chinese Military Base In The Pacific Near Australia Could Be A Nightmare For The US & Allies

Meanwhile, Chinese law-makers point out that the average per-capita annual income in China is 30,000 yuan ($4,193), but there are over 600 million people whose monthly income is barely 1,000 yuan ($140), not enough to rent a room in the Chinese cities. These pronouncements add weight to the argument that China is a relatively poor country, as over 40 percent of its 1.4 billion people are still living on a daily income of less than $5.

According to the CCP’s own internal reports, the three priorities areas include IT investment in futuristic technologies that are strategically important in China’s rivalry with the US, like 5G, new energy vehicles and charging stations, they further said. The second is new urbanization, including enhancing the public services of countries and renewal of old residential complexes (39,000 for 2020), as opposed to building new ones.

These are important given that in a bid to boost growth after the 2008 financial crisis, local governments ended up ramping up spending, much of which was either outright wasteful or yielded very low productivity – recall the stories of ghost towns and reports about excess capacities of steel and coal. So Li’s effort is to prevent a repeat of that approach.

While they might not face the pressure of a GDP target, employment pressures could force local governments to revert to the more traditional sectors. This could open fault lines with the central leadership, given Li’s warning that “government funds are public in nature and that no such funds are allowed to be withheld or diverted for non-designated uses.

Indian Rafale Jets Would Have Been Useless Against Chinese Airforce – Russia Experts

Published

on

Rafale jets would have been useless against the Chinese Airforce (PLAAF) – Russian aviation experts have claimed. Rafale fighter jets belong to the 4 ++ generation would not have been of much use had an aerial conflict broken out in Ladakh again the PLAAF.

JF-17 vs Rafale: Why Pakistani JF-17 Thunder Poses A Serious Threat To Indian Rafale Fighter Jets?

As reported by EurAsian Times, India and China had been engaged in a brutal conflict in the Himalayan region of Ladakh. Troops of both countries have exchanged blows and even lost soldiers in the conflict that began more than a month ago.

Chinese Ambassador ‘Honey-Trapped’ Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli – Indian Reports

Keeping in mind the situation in Ladakh, France said that it would accelerate the delivery of Rafale fighter jets to India. Aviation experts believe that the arrival of Rafale fighter jets will significantly boost the combat capability of the Indian Air Force (IAF). However, according to Russian experts, who did not wish to be named, the French fighter would not help India much incase the conflict turns hot.

Trump Would Not Have Supported India In A Possible War Against China – US NSA

The astronomical cost of Rafale fighter jets is one of the reasons the French 4++ fighter jet would not help India. In the deal struck with Paris, New Delhi agreed to purchase 36 Rafale Jets. The total cost of the deal was an estimated Rs 59,000 crore with each jet costing around Rs 1,646 crore.

The cost of a Rafale is about three times higher than the Chinese J-20 stealth fighter jets. In other words, for 36 French-made Rafale fighters that will appear in the Indian Air Force, China can respond with three times as many of its fifth-generation J-20 fighters – for the same money.

CPEC Project A ‘Trillion-Dollar Blunder’, Pakistan Calls It ‘Outstanding Initiative’

Even if, in some ways, the characteristics of the Chinese combat aircraft lag behind the French 4 ++ fighter jet, then the Indian air force could get overwhelmed by what is called “capable of crushing by quantity”.

And the cost is not the only reason why Rafale jets would not help India much. Compared to another Chinese jet – J-16 (an analogue of the Russian Su-35) which Beijing is also using in its airforce, the Rafale jets will find it extremely challenging to outgun the Russian Su-35s operated by the Chinese.

Rafale vs Chengdu J-20: How Will Indian Rafale Jets Compete Against Chinese ‘Stealth’ J-20s?

The maximum speed of the Rafale jet is about Mach 1.8 and the J-16 is Mach 2.2. The Rafale’s practical ceiling is also lower than the J-16s. Even in engine thrust, the Chinese J-16s aka Russian Su-35s are far superior to the French combat aircraft.

Even if the IAF was to deploy all 36 of its newly acquired jets, the technical superiority would still be on the side of China, claims the Russian expert.

India Bets Big On Nikki Haley To Emerge As Vice Presidential Candidate Under Trump

The IAF has been on high alert in Ladakh and is closely monitoring all Chinese activity near the Line of Control.  As reported by EurAsian Times, New Delhi has inked a deal with Moscow to buy 33 new fighter aircraft including 12 Su-30MKIs and 21 MiG-29s along with up-gradation of 59 MiG-29s. The addition and up-gradation of jets have been approved to strengthen India’s air power.

Rafale vs F-16: Can The Indian Rafale Jets Overpower The Pakistani F-16s In Aeriel Showdown?

The air defence systems of both the Indian Army and the IAF have been deployed in Ladakh to prevent any misadventure by the Chinese Air Force fighter jets or the People’s Liberation Army choppers there.

Turkey Tests Russian S-400 Missiles Against American F-16 Fighter Jets

Published

Turkey has reportedly tested the S-400 air defence systems against US-developed F-16 fighter jets. According to reports, the S-400 air defence systems deployed at the Mürted air base near Ankara were tested on the US-made F-16 Viper and F-4 Phantom II fighters.

Attack On Iran’s Natanz Nuclear Facility Not A Cyber Attack, But A Bomb Blast – Reports

Edition of Fighter Jets World notes that the F-16 fighter jets were seen in the vicinity of the Mürted airbase. “Within the scope of some projects carried out in coordination with the Presidency of Defense Industries, F-16 aircraft and other aircraft of the [Turkish] Air Force will carry out low and high altitude test flights on Monday and Tuesday in the skies of Ankara,” an official statement said.

However, video footage of the tests so far show F-16s and F-4s flying over Murted and examples of the 91N6E surveillance and acquisition radar and the 96L6E air search and acquisition radar, the latter elevated on a 40V6M mast, clearly in operation below.

The mast-mounted version of the 96L6E is also designed to be better able to detect low-flying targets that a radar positioned right on the ground might not be able to detect through the surface clutter.

Russia announced in September 2017 that it had signed a $2.5 billion deal with Turkey on the delivery of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems to Ankara. Under the contract, Ankara will get a regiment set of S-400 air defence missile systems (two battalions). The deal also envisages partial transfer of production technology to the Turkish side.

The S-400 ‘Triumf’ is the most advanced long-range air defence missile system that went into service in Russia in 2007. It is designed to destroy aircraft, cruise and ballistic missiles, including medium-range weapons, and can also be used against ground installations. The S-400 can engage targets at a distance of 400 km and at an altitude of up to 30 km.

Death of Police Doctor due to inhalation of decontamination chemicals – Philippines ready for probe

Published

on

While it welcomes any investigation on the death of a police doctor allegedly due to inhalation of decontamination chemicals, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) clarified that it does not buy or distribute any disinfectant materials to any coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) quarantine facility in the country.

National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) spokesperson Mark Cashean Timbal issued this statement Monday after reports claimed that the Philippine National Police (PNP) tagged the OCD as the source of the chemical that allegedly resulted in the death of Capt. Casey Gutierrez in a quarantine facility in Pasig last month.

“Wala pong binibili at binibigay na decontamination chemicals ang OCD para sa kahit anong Covid-19 facility (The OCD does not buy and distribute any decontamination chemicals to any Covid-19 facility). The only services that were arranged by OCD are: food catering, lodging for servicing personnel, provision of (personal protective equipment sets), hygiene kits, medical equipment and supplies, janitorial services, and waste collection and disposal. OCD is not involved in the actual management and operation of any Covid-19 facility liban po sa pagbibigay ng mga nabanggit (except for the services cited),” he said.

The OCD is the executive arm of the NDRRMC and the implementer of its programs.

“We are confident that the PNP, who manages the Ultra Covid-19 facility, would be able to resolve this matter by verifying where the said chemical actually came from and by examining their procedures involved in disinfecting the facilities they manage as well as the protection of their front-line staff,” Timbal added.

Meanwhile, the PNP clarified the OCD is neither blamed nor pointed to as the source of the concentrated disinfectant solution used by medical and healthcare personnel at the Philsports Arena Temporary Treatment and Monitoring Facility (PSA TTMF).

“In the interest of a thorough investigation, it was suggested that the OCD be asked to assist in the determination of the chemicals’ source given that it was OCD that accredited the service providers in the quarantine facilities operated by the PNP,” said PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac in a statement.

The PNP earlier noted that the chemical disinfectant used in another PNP-managed quarantine facility at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City is hypoallergenic and biodegradable and that the PSA TTMF and PICC have different service providers.
