Afghan Taliban Seize District Close To Tajikistan Border

The radical terrorist organization – Afghan Taliban seized the Dashti-Kala district of the Afghan province of Takhar, which is located near the Tajikistan border. This is reported by the Afghan media with reference to local authorities.

When the Afghan Taliban attacked five soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) were killed and four were injured. Ten representatives of the local pro-government militia were taken, prisoners. The attackers burned the administrative buildings of the county.

Takhar Province is located in the northeast of Afghanistan close to Tajikistan border. It is surrounded by Badakhshan in the east, Panjshir in the south, and Baghlan and Kunduz in the west. The main inhabitants of Takhar province are Tajik 60% and Uzbeks 35%.

Earlier, a group of Afghan Taliban militants attacked the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kabul. According to the representative of the Afghan police, all ten of the attackers died, as they failed to break into the building of the department. The Ministry of Interior Affairs relocated to the new building last year as the location was in close proximity to the key military bases including the Ministry of Defense and the National Directorate of Security besides Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
