In the latest news coming out of Pulwama, Kashmir, militants attacked a joint CRFP and J&K Police Party near South Kashmir’s Pulwama. Two CRFP soldiers were critically injured in the attack and one of them succumbed to his injuries.
The other soldier is undergoing specialized treatment at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital. As per reports, the militants opened fire at the joint Naka near Prichoo area of Pulwama. The joint team did fire back in retaliation but two members of the party were caught in the middle of the indiscriminate fire.
The slain CRPF soldier has been identified as Anoop Singh of IRP 10th battalion while the injured trooper is undergoing treatment in Srinagar has been identified as Mohammed Ibrahim.
According to Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police in Kashmir, the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF have cordoned off the area and a massive search is underway to nab the assailants.
Earlier, on May 20, terrorists riding a motorcycle shot at the BSF soldiers killing two of the security personnel in capital Srinagar. According to reports, two militants on motorcycles charged a security patrol. The terrorists sprayed bullets, resulting in serious injuries to three security personnel. They were rushed to SKIMS hospital, however, two were declared dead on arrival.
The attack comes after two terrorists were killed by the security forces in Srinagar itself. Three security personnel were injured and several houses were damaged as a gunfight erupted between the militants and the security forces.
According to experts, the latest attacks on members of Indian armed forces could be a retaliation to the encounter in Srinagar on Tuesday. Junaid Sehrai, a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander and son of a senior separatist leader was among the two militants killed in an operation by the Indian forces.
