More than 75 people have died across Pakistan and 57 alone in Pakistan-administered-Kashmir in the last 24 hours, senior government officials stated.

Two officials stated that villagers in Pakistan-administered-Kashmir were still stranded in the avalanche-hit areas of Neelum valley following heavy rains that also triggered landslides.

Many people were reported missing and feared dead as rescue efforts got underway, one of the officials said. As many as 42 injured people were shifted to nearby hospitals.

In the Indian side of Kashmir, three soldiers were killed and one is missing after an avalanche hit an army post in Jammu and Kashmir’s Machil sector in Kupwara.

In a separate incident, a Border Security Force (BSF) soldier was killed in an avalanche in Naugam sector in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night. In another avalanche, five civilians have been killed after nine people came under an avalanche in Sonmarg in Ganderbal district.
