The United States recognizes Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel and begins the process of transferring the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. This was stated by the President of the United States Donal Trump.
Jerusalem as the Capital of Israel
Trump stressed that the delay in this issue has nothing to do with the achievement of peace in the Middle East. It’s time to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the US president said.

Trump also said that Israel has the right to determine its own capital like any other sovereign nations. The American leader noted that Jerusalem is the seat of the Israeli government, its legislative bodies, and the supreme court.
Trump recalled that Jerusalem is the center of the three great religions of the world. The US President stated that the decision did not mean a weakening of the US commitment to the search for a lasting peace in the region.

According to Trump, the US is ready to return to a two-state solution to the Middle East problem, if both sides want it.
