Indian PM Modi unveiled a project of approximately 4,000 crore rupees to improve connectivity in the border state of Arunachal. He said that his government is committed towards the development of highway, railway, and airway in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs strongly reacted to China’s statements by saying that Arunachal Pradesh is an indispensable part of India. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson said: “Indian leaders visit Arunachal Pradesh from time to time, as they visit other parts of India. This consistent position has been conveyed to the Chinese side on several occasions”.
Hua Chunying, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasised saying, “China’s position on the China-India boundary question is consistent and clear-cut. The Chinese government has never recognised the so-called ‘Arunachal Pradesh’ and is firmly opposed to the Indian leader’s visit to the East Section of the China-India boundary.”
Meanwhile, China has requested India to concentrate on mutual cooperation and address each other concerns through improved bilateral ties. China also asked India to not to pursue any action that can create disputes over the border issues. China has declared Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh as part of Southern Tibet. China has consistently opposed to leaders visiting the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
