The Indian government has received fifteen Chinook helicopters from the US. The US Based-Boeing and Indian Air Force collaborated for Chinook helicopters which will become an integral part of Indian defence forces after tests.
India To Acquire Deadly HAROP Drones That Crash Into Enemy Targets
Currently, the Indian Air Force is using Russian Mi-17 and Mi-26 helicopters. In past, the Indian government had spent 3 billion USD to purchase 15 chinook and 22 Apache attack helicopters. Meanwhile, the Indian government is planning to acquire six extra Apaches which have gained prior approval from the US.
The Chandigarh Air Base will serve as a station for these helicopters. The air base also supplies essential items to the Siachen and Eastern Ladakh sectors.
These helicopters are the most advanced form of the aircraft which will definitely modernize the Indian Air Force. The Chinook Helicopters are also used by eighteen other defence forces throughout the world.
The Indian Air Force four pilots and flight engineers were instructed by American Manufacturing Company, Boeing for managing Chinook helicopters in October 2018 at Delaware USA.
During ‘India-Chinook Transfer Ceremony’ at Boeing’s facility in Philadelphia, India officially received the Chinook helicopters in the presence of the Indian Ambassador to the US Harsh Shringla.
