EC Challenges Sceptics to prove EVM tamperability

The Election Commission on Wednesday challenged the political parties CongressLeft, AAP ,scientists and technical experts claiming that electronic voting machines were manipulated to favor BJP, to prove that EVMs could be tampered with.

Same exercise was undertaken in 2009 following the doubts raised by several opposition parties who met the election Commission and also raised petition to the President. The charges have been raised as a consequence of BJP’s landslide win in the UP assembly elections.

EC sources mentioned that the latest challenge would see the poll panel installing its EVMs at its centre of operations for a week to 10 days and will invite all doubters to prove their tamperability. The EC’s own technical expert group on EVMs will supervise the demonstration. Other from inviting political parties to come and prove their claims in the first week of May, the exercise is aimed to reassure people that EVMs cannot be tempered to misrepresent the popular vote and are trustworthy and safe.
 

Media will not be permitted to cover the demonstrations live, each demonstration will be recorded and same will be uploaded on the EC website at the end of the day to ensure full transparency.
