Ensure Safety Of Indian Muslims & Their Holy Places – OIC Urges India

Published

on

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has raised its concern over India’s citizenship amendment act which could potentially impact the country’s Muslim population. The OIC also urged New Delhi to ensure the safety of the Indian Muslims who are protesting against the bill.

Overburdened By Afghans, Pakistan says Cannot Accommodate Indian Muslim Refugees

“It (OIC) expresses its concern over the recent developments concerning both the issue of citizenship rights and the Babri Mosque case. It reiterates its call to ensure the safety of the Muslim minority and the protection of Islamic holy places in India,” OIC said in a written statement.

Stating that it is closely following recent developments, the General Secretariat of OIC said in a statement that it “reaffirms the fundamental importance of supporting the principles and commitments enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and relevant international covenants that guarantee the rights of minorities without any discrimination”.

Islamic Heritage Could be Wiped Out From India – Pakistan Warns The UN

The Jeddah based organization, which has an observer status at the UN, also warned that any action against the UN principles could lead to “further tensions”, as well as may have “serious implications” on peace and security across the region.

India’s Citizenship Amendment Act grants citizenship to persecuted minority community i.e. Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Christians from three neighbouring Islamic countries i.e. Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh but bars Muslims from this privilege.
