“We have decided to open a new permanent mission of the EU in the only Central Asian country where the EU does not have a permanent diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan. We will open a permanent mission in Ashgabat in 2019, which will be a clear positive response to the interest of this country to cooperate more closely with the EU” – Mogherini.
The European Union held EU-Central Asia ministerial consultations in Brussels on 22 and 23 November, during which it considered the development of economic, political, cultural relations with the states of the region, as well as human rights and the promotion of the reform process in these countries.
After the opening of the new EU mission, the number of European permanent missions around the world will reach 141, the foreign service said.
