Have Israel & Turkey Joined Hands To Challenge Russia & Syria In Idlib?

With Israel attacking the Syrian forces from the south and Turkish backed militants fighting from the north to retain the province of Idlib, rumours have spread across the region of the possible military coalition between Turkey and Israel to fight the Syrian forces backed by Russia.

Helpless Turkey Fighting A Losing Battle Against Russia-Backed Bashar-Al Assad?

As Damascus continues its mission to reclaim Idlib from Islamic militants backed by Turkey, the Syrian Arab Army and Turkish forces have been engaging in the fiercest of the clashes. As reports emerge, the Israeli Defence forces have also launched attacks on Syrian targets from the southern border.

The tensions further escalated after Israeli airstrikes targeting Damascus, the capital city and the helicopter attack that resulted in three Syrian casualties. The airstrike that took place on February 27th was reportedly carried out from Golan Heights controlled by Israel struck assets in Al Hurria, Al Quanaitra and Al Qahtaniyah.

After closely analyzing the defence cooperation between Israel and the broader NATO alliance, between Israel and Turkey, a possibility of Tel Aviv and Ankara carrying out coordinated strikes on Syria to retain Idlib cannot be ruled-out.

On Saturday Israeli Defence Minister, Naftali Bennet, for the first time, admitted the role of Israel behind the November bombings in Syria. The bombing killed the son of a senior commander of Palestinian Islamic Jihadi terror group backed by Iran.

A day prior to that, on Friday, the defence minister told the Jerusalem Post about his goal to drive out Iran’s presence from Syria in 12 months time. On Thursday, Russian TV reported that the Turkish military has been attempting to shoot down Russian and Syrian fighter aircraft in the Idlib region.
