IAF Successfully Test-Fires BrahMos Surface-to-Surface Missiles

The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Tuesday successfully carried out the test-firing of BrahMos surface-to-surface missiles from a mobile platform at Trak Island in Andaman Nicobar islands. An official added that the missile engaged the designated mock target that was approximately 300 KM away. 

The BrahMos Aerospace is a medium range supersonic cruise missile, a joint venture between India and Russia, the 2.5 tonne missile can be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft and land platforms.

On Monday and Tuesday, IAF conducted the drill to check the capability of the missiles to hit targets with precision as part of routine personnel training. As per an official, a direct hit on the target was achieved. He further said, “Firing of the missile has enhanced IAF”s capability to engage the grounds targets with pinpoint accuracy from a mobile platform,” he said.
