Imran Khan Thanks Turkish President Erdogan For Raising Kashmir Issue At UN

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan raised the issue of Jammu and  Kashmir in the United Nations on Tuesday. In his speech before the UN, Erdogan said that the stability and prosperity of South Asia can not be separated from the Kashmir issue.

According to Turkish news agency Anadolu, Erdogan said that despite the UN resolutions eight million people are stuck in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that for a safe future it is imperative that to solve the issue of the valley through dialogue than conflict.

Erdogan said that the 72-year-old Kashmir issue should be resolved through dialogue on the basis of justice and equity.

Earlier in the day, Pakistan PM Imran Khan met President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York and discussed with him bilateral relations and the latest situation since India’s unilateral actions in Jammu and Kashmir.

PM Khan thanked Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan for mentioning Kashmir in his speech. “We are thankful that he has taken such a stance on the issue of the people of Kashmir,” the prime minister said.

He added, “We feel more world leaders will follow him talking about it and at the very least asking India to lift the siege.  “Pakistan has a great relationship with Turkey,” he said, adding President Erdogan is coming to Pakistan next month and we are hoping to forward our relations in trade.
