Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister is on a three-day trip for the India-Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission conference. The fifth India-Bangladesh JCC meeting is expected to boost bilateral ties between the two countries.
Bangladesh To Deploy Troops in Saudi Arabia; Boost Mutual Defence Relations
Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister, AK Abdul Momen will be accompanied by the top officials at the Joint Consultative Meeting. Prime Minister Modi was the first leader to wish Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina soon after the election results were declared in December, last year.
The JCC meeting is supposed to cover a wide range of issues i.e trade and investment, border management, defence cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges. Recently, the two countries agreed to improve relations through the northeastern region which serves as a platform for boosting trade activities with Bangladesh. They also agreed for construction in Kolaghat region.
The JCC meeting is expected to conclude with the signing of approximately five agreements in the area of broadcasting and herbal medicines. The Central Bureau of Investigation of India and Bangladesh may give approval for MoU. Similar advancement is expected in the field of broadcasting between the Bangladesh Television (BTV) and Prasar Bharti. The other issues might include the Rohingya crisis where Bangladesh is expecting a positive gesture from the Indian side.
The last JCC meet was organised in Dhaka on Oct 22-23, 2017. Bangladesh’s foreign minister is on a three-day visit to India, he will leave for Dhaka on Saturday.
