India will be launching its first ever manned space mission in 2022 as informed by the Indian PM on the eve of India’s Independence Day. Narendra Modi mentioned during his Independence Day Speech from the ramparts of Red Fort that ISRO will launch India’s first manned mission by 2022, which will put India in the elite club of nations.

During his speech, Indian PM Narendra Modi also announced a mega healthcare insurance scheme that will come to effect from September 25. As India gears up for elections in 2019, Narendra Modi being a powerful orator, delivered a power-packed speech on the eve of India’s 72nd Independence Day.
Narendra Modi will be hopeful that this speech will add impetus to his campaign for 2019 amid rising concerns on unemployment and mon lynchings in India. In recent years Modi’s non-performance on job creation in India coupled with rising communal violence has skewed his popularity among people.
If the Indian Space Research Organisation is successful in launching a manned space mission then India would become only the fourth nation in the world to do so. As of now only the US, China and Russia have been able to catapult manned space missions.
Narendra Modi also mentioned in his speech that India is proud of its scientists who are excelling at a great pace in terms of their research and innovation. A plethora of crowd was present at the Red Fort to listen to Modi’s speech on the eve of India’s Independence Day.

In 2014 soon after Narendra Modi came to power, India became the first Asian nation to reach Mars. India’s first mission to Mars successfully entered the orbit of Mars at a modest cost of USD 74.
Modi also announced a health insurance scheme that would benefit more than 500 million Indians which are impoverished and lack the basic health facilities. Will India give another term to Narendra Modi in the 2019 general elections?
