India ‘Really Concerned’ Over Mounting Infiltration From Pakistan; 323 Cases Already Reported

Indian External Affairs Ministery raised concern over the rising incidence of cross border terrorism from Pakistan. Indian External Ministery revealed that the security forces have prevented 323 infiltrations by terrorists accommodated in Pakistan’s territory.

Minister of State for External Affairs VK Singh in his answer to a question raised in Lok Sabha said that India has consistently asked Pakistan to follow the promise of not allowing its territory to become a base for terrorist activities and propagate cross-border terrorism.

“India will continue to take firm and decisive steps to respond to cross-border terrorist infiltration and unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan, including in support of terrorist infiltration,” Singh added.

The Indian External Minister for State emphasised, “As per available information, Indian security forces have interdicted attempts by 371, 419 and 323 terrorists at cross border infiltration in 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively.”

The Indian government is taking note of the increase in cases related to Chinese troops crossing Indian side of the Line of Actual Control. The situation at LAC could have been sorted out with the common perspective on border issues.

“Government regularly takes up any transgression along the LAC with the Chinese side through established mechanisms including border personnel meetings, flag meetings, meetings of working mechanism for consultation and coordination on India-China border affairs, as well as through diplomatic channels,” Singh said.
