India successfully test-fired of a K-4 ballistic missile for its submarine INS Arihant. According to the PTI news agency, the tests took place in the Bay of Bengal near the port of Visakhapatnam.
The missile, developed by the DRDO, with its range of 3,500 km can bring almost all parts of Pakistan and several areas of China within its reach, officials said. The missile is set to be integrated with India”s Arihant class nuclear submarine.
This is the second test of K4 Missiles in recent days, the previous ones took place on January 19 in the same area – off the coast of Andhra Pradesh. The rocket was launched from an underwater platform. No other test details were reported.
K-4 – a medium-range ballistic missile capable of carrying various types of warheads, including nuclear weapons. It is being developed by the Indian Organization for Defense Research and Development (DRDO) for the Arihant class nuclear submarines (a project of Indian nuclear strategic submarines).
