Meet the Indian – The Unsung Hero of Football Team’s Rescue in Thailand

Almost the entire world keenly followed the rescue operation of a young football team from stuck in Thailand caves. But how India helped the rescue operation to bring back the young boys and their coach went largely unnoticed. As a matter of fact, it was an Indian firm which provided technical support for the operation. The firm was recommended to the authorities by the Indian Embassy in Thailand.

On June 10 the rescue operation to bring back 12 young boys and their coach came to an end. The football team got caught up in a cave they had gone to venture after practice. They got stuck in the Tham Luang cave after heavy rains lashed the area and brought foods on June 23. Finally, after 18 days they have rescued under a massive operation the success of which brought cheer to the entire world.

Meet the Indian heroes behind the Thai rescue operation

Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL) which is headquartered in Pune played a pivotal role in the rescue operation. The Indian Embassy in Thailand recommended the name of the firm citing its vast experience in de-watering. The Thai authorities soon contacted KBL which then came to the picture. The company then sent its teams from India and the UK to assist the operation. The expert team of KBL joined the rescue operations on July 5. It offered a comprehensive technical know-how of the situation and extended its advice on the dewatering process and the pumps to be used in the massive rescue operation.

As reported by the Press Trust of India, The KBL also provided 4 highly specialized dewatering pumps of high capacity which were airlifted from Maharashtra. The contribution of India to this operation, however, was ignored by the international media and India remained the unsung hero of the rescue operation. India was the real hero behind this rescue operation which was indeed too difficult to be pulled off.
