Indian Army Celebrates 100 Years of Liberation of Israel’s Haifa

Indian Army celebrated 100 years of liberation of Israel’s Haifa, which took place in 1918, in New Delhi. The celebration was an honouring tribute by the Indian troops. As both the countries have been under a pact for India importing Iranian oil, this commemoration signifies a stronger bond between the defence members of the two nations.

The centenary celebrations ended on September 23 with a grand function in the national capital today. The Battle of Haifa is also being honoured in Israel and Jaipur.

Every year September 23 is celebrated as Haifa Day by the Indian Army to pay its respects to the Indian Cavalry Regiments, Mysore and Jodhpur Lancers, that helped release Hafia in Israel after a cavalry action by the 15th Imperial Service Cavalry Brigade.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat, who took part in the centenary celebrations to commemorate the day in Jaipur on September 22, said that Indian Army has potential to deal with any situation.
