13 Kashmiri Militants, 3 Indian Army Soldiers, 4 Civilians Die in Kashmir Gunfight

The Indian Army, along with Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police have claimed to killed 13 Kashmiri Militants, including top commanders in Anantnag and Shopian districts of Jammu and Kashmir, according to Director General of Police (DGP) SP Vaid. 3 Indian Army Soldiers, along with 4 civilians also lost their lives in the encounter.

In a tweet, DGP Vaid said: Seven bodies of Kashmiri Militants have been recovered from the site of a gunfight with the Indian Army. He said the slain included top commanders.

Another gunfight is underway between the militants and the Indian Army in Kachdoora village. Three army men are believed to be injured in the gunfight according to Greater Kashmir. Another Kashmiri Militant was killed in a gunfight with the Indian Army at Dialgam in Anantnag,  Kashmir after attempts by his family and Jammu and Kashmir Police failed to convince him to surrender”.

“As the search operation started and the location of Kashmiri Militants was figured out, the Indian Army via the loudspeaker requested the Kashmiri Militants to surrender, as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP),” but the militants did not budge. However, one of the Kashmiri Militants came out of the house and surrendered before the Indian Army, who was later taken into custody.”

The family of the surrendered Kashmiri Militant also played a vital role in motivating the youth to drop weapons and surrender. “The other Kashmiri Militant decided not to surrender and was later killed in a retaliatory firing by the Indian Army. Both the Kashmiri Militants (arrested and deceased) were part of Pakistan sponsored organisation Hizbul Mujahideen, according to local sources. The encounter between the Indian Army and Kashmiri Militants is still underway at Kachroora in Shopian according to a tweet by DGP Vaid.
