Indian soldier injured in the exchange of fire
In the initial gunfight between the Indian troops and the infiltrators, an Indian soldier was critically injured and rushed to the hospital. The Indian army launched a massive search and combing operation in the concerned sectors to neutralise the terrorists.
As per initial inputs, these terrorists had sneaked about half a kilometre inside the Indian territory making their way through the Pakistan controlled Kashmir. As stated by an army official, around 6 heavily-armed terrorists had penetrated into the valley through PoK’s Machhal sector.
Earlier in the week, the Indian Army claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid in the Keran sector of Kupwara wherein around 7 commandos of Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) were gunned down by the Indian forces. The valley is on high alert especially in the wake of the recent political overhauling in Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian security agencies are of the belief that Pakistan has intensified intrusion along the Line of Control to disturb the peace process in the valley. As per Indian intelligence agencies, a large number of terrorists are present at terror launch pads across the border in Pakistan and waiting for their opportunity to cross over.
