The Indian Army demonstrated its ethical and moral values when it restored the grave of a decorated Pakistan soldier who was killed in action along LC in Naugam Sector on 05 May 1972, reports The Press Trust Of India (PTI)
Srinagar-based Chinar Corps tweeted a photo of the grave which reads ”In memory of Major Mohd Shabir Khan, Sitar-e-Jurrat Shahid 05 May 1972, 1630, killed in a counter-attack by 9 Sikh”.
Chinar Corps righteously upheld the belief that a fallen soldier, irrespective to the country he belongs to, deserves respect & honour in death. The Pakistani soldier was a recipient of Sitara-e-Jurat, the third-highest military award of Pakistan.

“In keeping with the traditions & ethos of the #IndianArmy, #ChinarCorps resuscitated a damaged grave of Major Mohd Shabir Khan, Sitara-e-Jurrat, Pakistan Army, who was Killed in Action (KIA) at a forward location along LC in Naugam Sector on 05 May 1972,” said the tweet.
Netizens lauded the Indian Army for upholding the motto ‘a soldier is a soldier first and anything else later’.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Army has received criticism for its barbaric actions including mutilating bodies of Indian soldiers killed in cross border action.
In an incident in 2017, Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT) intruded in the Indian territory and ambushed a patrol team, also mutilating the bodies of two Indian soldiers – Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh of 22 Sikh Infantry and Head Constable Prem Sagar of 200th Battalion of Border Security Force.

In 2018, Arun Jaitley, the late union minister criticised Pakistani Army saying “bodies of soldiers being mutilated is an extreme form of barbaric act.
The Government of India strongly condemns this act and the whole country has full confidence and faith in our armed forces which will react appropriately to this inhuman act. The sacrifice of these soldiers will not go in vain.”
