Indian Army Uses Heavy Duty ‘Bofors Artillery Guns’ To Hits Terror Launch Pads In Pakistan



The Indian Army says that it has retaliated heavily to unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan by targeting terror launch pads and ammunition storage across the border. Tensions between India and Pakistan remain high, despite both nations engulfed with Covid-19 pandemic.

“India has carried out precision targeting of gun areas, terrorist launch pads and ammunition in response to unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan in Keran sector of Kupwara district. There have been reports of heavy damage on their (Pakistan side), an Indian Army defense spokesperson said.

This is the fourth such ceasefire violation in as many days by Pakistan. A senior intelligence official said that Pakistan was deliberately indulging in ceasefire violations in an attempt to use it as a cover to push terrorists across the border.

He also added that all the forces in the Kupwara, Nowshera, Krishna Ghati, Baramulla, Anantnag, Pulwama, and Shopian region and also in some specific zones Kashmir were put on high alert.

The exchange has erupted five days after five Indian Special Forces soldiers were killed in a major high altitude encounter in Kupwara sector of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army has released the drone footage of the retaliation.

The captured drone footage has shown an ammunition dump being hit by Indian Bofors Guns. On Sunday a team of five Indian elite para commandos engaged in a fierce gun and hand-to-hand battle with terrorists. All the five commandos embraced martyrdom and killed the four terrorists. A fifth terrorist was killed at the LOC by Indian Forces.

On first April, As EurAsian Times reported, Indian Forces began operation Randori Behak. Soldiers deployed in the Kupwara sector repeatedly picked and lost trail of terrorists for the next three days. On the dawn of April 5, the commandos ventured on a cornice, an overhanging patch of snow with no support. The cornice broke under the weight of two soldiers and the team fell into the spot where the terrorist were hiding and a gunfight ensued in which all the five soldiers faced martyrdom.

India’s junior defense Minister told its Parliament that Pakistan had violated ceasefire 643 times between January 1 and February 23 alone. In 2019 the total ceasefire violations stood at 3,200.

India and Pakistan continue to exchange heavy fire all along the volatile Line of Control (LoC), which has already recorded over 1,200 ceasefire violations (CFVs) this year. India registered 3,479 CFVs across the LoC and international border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2019, the highest since 2003.

This year, 367 CFVs being reported in January, 382 in February and 411 in March. The number of CFVs last year in 2019 between January-March stood at 685.

The number of CFVs has jumped after New Delhi abolished the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5 last year. “The hike in CFVs has continued since then, though there has been a general dip in terrorist violence in the hinterland. With the snow in the mountain passes melting now, there has also been a spike in infiltration attempts,” said another officer.
