In a statement on Sunday, the Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson said this upheaval is yet another reflection of India’s trademark hubris and the BJP government’s well-known smear campaign against Pakistan.

He said it is disgraceful to promote the RSS-BJP extremist ideological and nationalistic agenda and to divert international attention from the gory reality in Jammu and Kashmir,  senior Indian officials continue to manufacture “facts” both with regard to the issue of terrorism and the situation in Kashmir.

Early in September Hafiz Saeed, the mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was declared a terrorist under newly-approved amendments to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The move was supported by the United Nations, which earlier designated Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist.
