Indian Air Force Donates 20 Crores To Kerala Post Intense Rescue Operations

Setting a great precedent, the Indian Air Force has donated INR 20 crores to Kerala for rehabilitation and relief works. The Indian Air Force after being relentlessly occupied in rescue operations for more than a week decided to take a step further and made a big financial contribution to the state.

Kerala floods have been an issue of a spat between the union government and the state government after Indian denied aids offered by the UAE, Qatar and the Maldives. UAE had offered a financial aid worth 700 crores while Qatar made an offer of 35 crores which India turned down humbly.

The state government of Kerala then slammed the decision of the Modi government to turn down the offers made by foreign nations to provide vital help to Kerala. The state government asked the union government to compensate for the denial of foreign aids which could have helped Kerala significantly.

Indian Air Force Donated To The Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund

Air Marshal B. Suresh who is the Air Officer Commanding in Chief of the Southern Command handed over a cheque of INR 20 crores to Kerala’s Chief Minister Distress Relief Fund in Trivandrum on Saturday. The Kerala floods have unleashed havoc on the state with financial losses being pegged at INR 20000 crores. The floods which have been described as the largest in centuries have claimed more than 300 lives and brought life in Kerala at a complete standstill.

People have turned up in large numbers to send help to Kerala from all across the nation and the state governments too have donated for the rehabilitation of Kerala. The losses in Kerala have been disheartening and dreadful and it has once again raised fingers at India’s capabilities to handle irregular monsoons.
