The Russian troops will take up the defense in the Kherson direction along the left bank of the Dnieper River, the maneuver will begin in the near future, the commander of the Russian Joint Group of Forces Sergei Surovikin reported to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
“After a comprehensive assessment of the current situation, it is proposed to take up the defense along the left bank of the Dnieper River. I understand that this is a very difficult decision. In addition, part of the forces and means will be released, which will be used for active operations, including offensive ones, in other directions in the operation zone,” the commander said.
He specified that “the maneuver of the troops will be carried out in the near future, formations and units will occupy defensive lines and positions prepared in engineering terms on the left bank of the Dnieper River.”
Shoigu ordered Surovikin to take all measures for the safe transfer of troops in the Kherson direction from the right to the left bank of the Dnieper.

“For us, the life and health of Russian military personnel is always a priority. We must also take into account the threat to the civilian population. Make sure that all civilians who wish can leave. Proceed with the withdrawal of troops and take all measures to ensure the safe transfer of personnel, weapons and equipment across the Dnieper River,” Shoigu said.
Meanwhile, Surovikin reported to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu that the implementation of Kyiv’s plans to create a flood zone below the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant could lead to dangerous consequences.
“The implementation of the enemy’s plans to create a flood zone below the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant can lead to dangerous consequences. This is confirmed by constant missile attacks on the dam of the Kakhovka HPP, as well as on the spillway gates of this dam. So, on September 26, one of the spillway shutters was hit and damaged,” Surovikin said.
He added that the intensive discharge of water through the dam of the Kyiv hydroelectric power plant and hydroelectric power plant downstream, which Kyiv had been carrying out since October 10, was also a cause for concern about the possible flooding of both banks of the Dnieper River.
