Kulbhushan Jadhav is a Confirmed RAW Agent: Indian Publication

Is Kulbhushan Jadhav really an Indian RAW Agent? A Pakistani daily on Friday in an article reported that an Indian magazine has admitted to Kulbhushan Jadhav being an Indian Navy officer. Dawn published that while Kulbhushan Jadhav’s allegiance to the Indian Navy was no news for Pakistan, it has now come to light that an Indian magazine has confirmed that Jadhav was working for RAW – the Indian Intelligence Agency.

The magazine in question is Frontline which is reportedly published by The Hindu publishers. Dawn reported that the magazine has admitted to India’s engagement in a ‘covert war against Pak’ while asserting that India must review its policies following the arrest of Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The Frontline article, according to Dawn, categorically mentions India building up the ‘covert action programme’ against the neighbours since the year 2013. It further adds that the programme was earlier led by NSA Ajit Doval and is now headed by Anil Dhasmana from RAW. The secret war, however, is not ‘risk-free’, it adds.

Kulbhushan Jadhav Promoted As Commander In 2000; No Records Of Retirement

Speaking on Kulbhushan Jadhav; Praveen Swami, the author of the Frontline article, said that Kulbhushan Jadhav, service number 41558Z, joined the Indian Navy in 1987, and was promoted to Commander in the year 2000.

Swami, according to Dawn, further adds that the digital archive of GoI (Gazette of India) has no records of Jadhav’s retirement, while the Indian government claims that he is a retired Naval officer. On the other hand, for several months of the year 2000, the Gazette of India, has removed all documents and files pertaining to the Indian Defense Ministry.

The Dawn further adds that Swami in his article mentions that the Indian ministry denies any and all ties to any individual arrested in Pak for espionage. When questioned about Kulbhushan Jadhav, for instance, the Indian Naval HQ referred the writer of the article to the MEA, who further declined to add anything to the matter. Mentioning quotes from anonymous sources, Swami adds that Jadhav, a man with ‘exceptional courage’ had volunteered for the secret mission.

The Pakistani Daily further mentions that Kulbhushan Jadhav started working for RAW in 2010, after having previously worked for Naval Intelligence and then the Intelligence Bureau. It also mentions ‘small cash payments’ made to Kulbhushan Jadhav between 2010 and 2014, by various RAW chiefs during their respective tenures.
