Mahathir Mohamad Free Hundreds of Pakistanis Jailed In Malaysia On New Year

Mahathir Mohamad Government of Malaysia has released 113 Pakistani citizens languishing in different jails of Malaysia. They are being brought back to Pakistan as part of an initiative undertaken by the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis reports Radio Pakistan.

A special plane of Pakistan International Airlines will reach Islamabad today. In a statement, Special Assistant on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Bukhari said welfare of overseas Pakistanis is the foremost priority of the incumbent government.

Earlier in May, around 320 Pakistani prisoners were released by Malaysia. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari, who pursued the prisoner’s case had received the prisoners at the airport.

Talking to media, Zulfikar Bukhari that time stated that more prisoners were coming from various countries including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) in coming days as the foreign missions and Community Welfare Attaches were in constant contact with the quarters concerned for their early return to the homeland.

He said unlike the previous regimes, this was the first government which pleaded the case of Pakistani prisoners, languishing in foreign jails, effectively.

Zulfikar Bukhari that time appreciated PM Imran Khan and said that he had directed every institution to resolve the issue of Pakistani Diaspora on priority, terming them the asset of the country. Under the leadership of Imran, the voices of Pakistanis expatriates would not go unheard, adding this move had showed that Pakistan now gave ownership to its every national including local and overseas.
