Malaysia More Inclined Towards Indian HAL Tejas Over Pakistani JF-17 Thunder – Reports

Published

Will Malaysia eventually purchase the Indian HAL Tejas over other competitors including Pakistani/Chinese JF-17 Thunder? According to the key sources, the Malaysian Government is quite keen on evaluating the HAL Tejas and is making a lot of enquiries which are being promptly answered.

Pakistani JF-17, Indian HAL Tejas or Korean FA-50: Which Fighter Jet Will Malaysia Finally Buy?

India will get a strong foothold in South East Asia, in case Malaysia decided to buy the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) ‘Tejas’ manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Speaking to Financial Express on condition of anonymity, a top official has said that “There are various dimensions to the export of the LCA Tejas to Malaysia. In fact, the whole LCA programme will receive the much-needed boost, and HAL will get international recognition for its design capability and validation for its product.”

The product in itself would stand out from the competition as a technically superior product, said the source cited above. According to the source, the Malaysian export order will open up an array of opportunities for other platforms such as SU-30 and Advanced Jet Trainer (AJT) `Hawk’ which are being operated by other Southeast Asian countries.

UAE May Buy LCA Tejas Fighter Jets Due To Combined US, Russian and Israeli Technology

Also, the helicopter market in these countries too is largely untapped. If LCA gets foreign recognition other HAL made products too will attract the attention sending positive signals in defence manufacturing in India, he adds.

Earlier this year, HAL had sent in two fighters to participate in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) 2019 in Malaysia for the first time. These were ferried with the help of the Indian Air Force (IAF) and had participated in the flight displays along with Indonesia’s Jupiter Aerobatic Team and the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

The South Asian country is in the process of assessing fighter aircraft from various vendors as it is planning to buy 36 light combat aircraft (LCA) in an effort to add on to its existing fleets in its air force.

Sources indicated the government of Malaysia is keen on the Indian LCA, and during the LIMA, the HAL stand had received several queries from the government of that country.

Besides India, Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) which is looking for a low-cost light fighter jet has invited proposals from competitors including M-346FA Fighter Attack aircraft variant developed by Leonardo, Yak-130 combat trainer aircraft developed by United Aircraft Corporation of Russia and FA-50 light attack aircraft developed by Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).

The first time `Tejas’ had an international exposure was during the Bahrain International Air Show in 2016. The LCA which is considered to be the world’s lightest supersonic fighter has already joined the IAF and has received the Final Operational Clearance on Feb 20, this year.

The IAF has inducted the Tejas into its Number 45 Squadron — Flying Daggers in July 2016. This squadron is flying the MiG-21 Bison fighters, one of which shot down a much-advanced F-16 of the Pakistani Air Force on Feb 27, 2019.

The Made in India LCA with the first advance Fly-by-wire (FBW) fighter designed, developed and manufactured by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and HAL will replace the MiG-21s in the IAF fleet. This aircraft has a glass cockpit with Satellite aided Inertial Navigation System and is a 4 + generation fighter. This aircraft has a capability to fire Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles, bombs and precision-guided munitions.

It can also be refuelled mid-air which will increase its combat radius. The IAF is already keenly waiting for the newer version of the aircraft Tejas MK 2, the Medium Weight Fighter (MWF), currently under development.

China Mocks Trump, Pompeo Over Subduing Minnesota & Provoking Hong Kong Protesters

Chinese media has lambasted Donald Trump’s handling of Minnesota protests over the death of an African American man by comparing the situation with Hong Kong riots.

Delivering Gasoline To Venezuela – ‘A Strong Response To US Bullying’: Iran

“Secretary Pompeo, please stand with the angry people of Minneapolis, just like you did with the people of Hong Kong,” wrote Hu Xijin, the editor-in-chief of Chinese state-run media – Global Times (GT).

Hu made this comment after violent protests erupted across cities in the US over the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year old African American man.

As reported by EurAsian Times earlier, Trump said that he wouldn’t “stand back and watch this happen to a great American city”, adding that he had spoken to Minnesota governor Tim Waltz and told him “the military is with him all the way”. “Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts,” Trump warned.

“Just three days after unrest broke out in Minnesota, Trump threatened the use of “shooting” and announced that the army can support the governor. I strongly condemn such threats. Please protect the people of Minnesota, just like you sympathize with Hong Kong thugs,” tweeted Xijin.

Chinese State Media Blasts Trump For Driving A Wedge Between India & China

Hong Kong has recently seen a series of violent protest against China’s new security law which is to be imposed on the city. US President Trump backed the protestors in Hong Kong by signing The Human Rights and Democracy Act, which would allow sanctions on China if it threatened the semi-autonomous status of Hong Kong.

The new law also prohibits the export of crowd-control munitions to the police in Hong Kong – including tear gas, rubber bullets and stun guns.

In his editorial, Xijin wrote that “more than 100,000 people have died (in the US) from COVID-19, most of them weak, elderly, poor and minorities. The death of George Floyd, from another perspective, reveals the desperate inequality rampant in the US.”.

Police arrested Floyd outside a convenience store after a report of a counterfeit bill being passed. In a video recorded by a witness, an officer kneels on Floyd’s neck, and he was heard pleading that he couldn’t breathe until he slowly stopped talking and moving.

On Thursday night, demonstrators torched a police station in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Trump blamed “radical left Mayor, Jacob Frey” for a “total lack of leadership” after Frey came out in support of the protestors demanding for a criminal investigation of Floyd’s death while requesting for calm.

US Media Attacks PM Modi Over COVID-19 Crisis But Forgets Its Own Devastation

CNN reported that its black reporter was arrested while legally covering the protests in Minneapolis,” the news organisation tweeted. “A white reporter also on the ground was not.”

According to Xijin, US political elites directly applauded Hong Kong’s riots, calling them a “beautiful sight” of democracy. He further added that the “chaos in Hong Kong has lasted for over a year and military forces have not been dispatched. Yet after only three days of chaos in Minnesota, Trump publicly threatened the use of firepower and implied military forces could be utilized”.

US Could Recognize Tibet As An ‘Independent Country’ As US-China Tensions Escalate

UN Human Rights Chief, Michelle Bachelet, condemned the killing of many unarmed African Americans by the Police. “I am dismayed to have to add George Floyd’s name to that of Breonna Taylor, Eric Garner, Michael Brown and many other unarmed African Americans who have died over the years at the hands of the police – as well as people such as Ahmaud Arbery and Trayvon Martin who were killed by armed members of the public,” she said.

Xijin concluded by saying that the incident is an example of the US’s double standards.

Top Terror Commander Syed Salahuddin ‘Not Injured’ In Pakistan Attacks – Pak Journalist

Published

on

Reports in Indian media say that Syed Salahuddin, who also heads the United Jihad Council, was “seriously injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment”.

Reports said that since Syed Salahuddin was unable to carry out Pakistan’s mission of creating unrest in Jammu and Kashmir off-late, terror outfit chief allegedly faced the fury of his masters when he was attacked by unknown attackers in Islamabad.

India media report claim that Syed Salahuddin was “seriously injured in the attack and is undergoing treatment”, a claim rejected by Pakistani journalist – Hamid Mir.

Media reports also claimed that since Salahuddin was clueless about the Indian government’s move to abrogate Article 370, the ISI had deliberately started revoking its support to the Hizbul Mujahideen.

Syed Salahuddin

74 years old, Syed Salahuddin, who heads Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, a pro-Pakistan Kashmiri separatist militant organisation that aims to join Kashmir to Pakistan is not only one of India’s most-wanted list that includes names like Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon but is also a Specially Designated Global Terrorist by the US Department of State.

Born and raised in Budgam district of the Kashmir valley which is known to house the highest amount of Shia Muslims in the UT, Salahuddin had initially joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police Force and had even promoted to the rank of Sub Inspector before being highly influenced by Jamaat-e-Islami, an organisation that has now been banned for 5 years under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

It is reported that while completing his Masters in Political Science from the University of Kashmir, the young Salahuddin got radicalised accepting and endorsing Sharia Law which are religious laws derived from the precepts of Islam.

Taking up Arms

Before taking up the violent means of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, Salahuddin first contested in the democratically held assembly elections of 1987 in J&K but had no luck and was rather arrested and kept behind bars for his violent agitations.

Two years later, Salahuddin joined the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and hence began his recognised militancy tenure which continues till day where he serves the head of not just this banned terrorist organisation but also the head of United Jihad Council, which is an organisation reportedly developed by the Pakistan Army for unified command and control over the anti-Indian militant groups that operates in Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan Army’s continued efforts to size Kashmir had been accepted by Salahuddin in 2012 “We are fighting Pakistan’s war in Kashmir and if it withdraws its support, the war would be fought inside Pakistan,” said Salahuddin in the interview in June 2012.

While Pakistan rejected his comments, Islamabad did not take any action against Salahuddin since the United Nations Security Council hadn’t classified him as a terrorist.

Syed Salahuddin’s Involvement In Militancy

In the name of Radical Jihad, Salahuddin has incited many violent protests and agitations in the valley by his recruits that have been a cause of major turmoil in the valley.

The attack on Pathankot Air Base in 2016 that lasted about 17 hours resulted in the death of five attackers and six security personnel, was undertaken under Salahuddin’s leadership by the UJC.

Under Salahuddin’s leadership, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen has seen the commandership of many militants like Burhan Wani, Sabzar Bhat, Zakir Musa and the latest one to be taken down by the armed forces, Riyaz Naikoo. It was reported that after Naikoo’s encounter, Syed Salahuddin had said that the sacrifice would help them achieve the mission that they had set out to achieve.

Chinese State Media Blasts Trump For Driving A Wedge Between India & China

Published

on

Washington knows that the combined strength of China and India could undermine American interests in Asia and opportunist US has never given up its attempt to drive a wedge between Beijing and New Delhi, writes the Global Times.

Timely Action By Kashmir Police Averts A Full-Scale India-Pakistan War?

GT took a dig at US President Donald Trump saying that Trump finally knows that China and India, the two largest Asian powers, share borders. This is about a book called A Very Stable Genius that revealed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was shocked and concerned when Trump told him India and China did not share a border.

Recently US President Donald Trump offered to mediate between India and China in resolving the border standoff between two nations an offer overlooked by both the nations. India said it is engaged with China at the diplomatic and military levels to end a border standoff and tacitly ruled out any possibility of US mediation.

Donald Trump To Withdraw US Troops From Afghanistan Ahead Of Schedule

As earlier reported by EurAsian Times, India deployed troops along the line of actual control (LAC) after it was reported that China had pitched tents and stationed soldiers near river Galwan, which was also the 1962 flashpoint between two nations.

India had also turned down Trump’s offer to “help” and “mediate” between India and Pakistan over Kashmir, an issue New Delhi stressed can only be discussed bilaterally.

GT writes that India perhaps has been aware of the US’ bad history of mediation in which Washington created troubles rather than solving problems and  turned bilateral disputes into multilateral ones.”

US Could Recognize Tibet As An ‘Independent Country’ As US-China Tensions Escalate

GT further notes that the US mediation in Japan-South Korea trade disputes and the Israel-Palestine conflicts have further complicated the situations. Deaths and casualties from the two fighting sides keep increasing.

New Delhi said that it was engaging with Beijing to “peacefully resolve” the build-up along the Line of Actual Control by Indian and Chinese armies. “Our troops have taken a very responsible approach towards border management and strictly followed protocols. They scrupulously follow the guidance provided by our leadership.

Chinese Military Base In The Pacific Near Australia Could Be A Nightmare For The US & Allies

Two years back, New Delhi and Beijing stood at crossroads because of the Doklam standoff. The issue was resolved with mutual cooperation between New Delhi and Beijing which led to both the countries withdrawing its troops from the region, says the GT report.

“Indian experts also believe that the special representatives’ talks on the boundary question between India and China constitute an important channel of communication, and should continue in order to mitigate border standoffs and other hot issues.”

Is India Trying To Negotiate Border Conflict With China Using The Taiwan Card?

It is adequately clear that neither China nor India have shown any interest in US President Trump’s offer to mediate. Both the neighbouring countries plan to solve the issue bilaterally without involving any foreign powers.
