Pakistan PM Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday called US President Donald Trump’s acknowledgment of Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts during his two day trip to India as a massive diplomatic win for Islamabad.
During a meeting of the federal cabinet, Khan observed that Modi Government’s evil plans against Pakistan had been thwarted and Indian PM Narendra Modi had failed to sell his anti-Pakistan narrative to the US president.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump again offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir. New Delhi, in past, has firmly rejected US mediation offer and stated that Kashmir is a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, the US president said: “There is a big problem between Pakistan and India, but I think they will work out their problem.”
Trump has offered to mediate between India and Pakistan on Kashmir on various occasions. In August 2019, he reiterated the same, adding that he is willing to intervene but a decision would be up to the leaders of both the countries.
In the press conference, Trump maintained that the US has a great relationship with Pakistan. “India is a brave country and I have a great relationship with both the leaders — Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and Indian PM Narendra Modi.
Earlier, Donald Trump at the Namaste Trump event at the Motera cricket stadium in Ahmedabad said that good relations with Pakistan have assured that firm action is taken against terrorism and both nations (India, US) are dealing with the threat of terrorism with iron-clad resolve.
Addressing an audience of over a hundred thousand people, Trump said, The US and India are committed to defending its citizens from the threat of radical Islamic terrorism. For this reason, since (I have) taken office, my administration is working in a very positive manner with Pakistan to crackdown on the terrorist organizations and militants that operate on the Pakistani border.
Our relationship with Pakistan is a very good one. Thanks to these efforts, we are beginning to see signs of massive progress with Pakistan and we are hopeful to reduce tension, greater stability in future and harmony in all of the nations of South Asia, Trump had stated.
