Mongolia to Provide Japan with Humanitarian Aid of USD 100,000 for Flooding

The Mongolian Government will provide Japan, the worlds third biggest economy, with the humanitarian aid of USD 100,000 to assist Tokyo in dealing with the severe floodings. The recent flooding in Japan is one the biggest catastrophe in the country which resulted in 216 deaths. The news of Mongolian aid was reported by the MONTSAME agency.

“Mongolia is very worried by the high casualties and losses caused by floods and landslides in the west of Japan,” said Damdina Tsogtbaatar, the head of the Mongolian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador in the Mongolian capital.

The minister recollected the devastating disaster in Japan which was an important topic of discussion in Ulaanbaatar, at the Asian Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction. Takaoka, the Japanese ambassador expressed appreciation, emphasizing that the support provided is an expression of strong Mongolia-Japan relations.

Powerful storms hit Japan in the middle of last week due to the impact of the typhoon “Prapirun”, causing the death of at least 216 people. The number of deaths as a result of the flood was the most significant since 1953, when 759 people died on the island of Kyushu, more than 450 thousand lost their homes.
