The Indian NIA on January 18th has filed a charge sheet against Pakistan based alleged Terrorists – Hafeez Saeed and Syed Salahuddin along with ten other persons. The charge sheet has been filed in a case against the twelve persons related to terror funding and separation activities. The National Investigation Agency has in its 1,279-page long charge sheet sought the permission from a court in the national capital to continue with the investigation against the accused in the case.
NIA Seized 950 Documents, Raided 60 Locations
The officials of the National Investigation Agency revealed that they raided 60 locations in total from where they gathered material and evidence along with 950 documents incriminating the accused individuals. They added that 300 persons came forward as witnesses for the same. Among the 12 detained, was also Zahoor Ahmed Watali, a businessman from the valley. The charge sheet also includes names of Bitta Karate, a militant from the J&K Liberation Front, and photojournalists, Javed Ahmed Bhat and Kamran Yusuf.
The Lashkar e Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen chiefs, Saeed and Salahuddin, have been accused of funding terrorist activities in the Kashmir valley. Saeed, along with Hizb, Hurriyat Conference, and Dukhtaran-e-Milat has been named as accused in the FIR.
Recorded Statements of Four: NIA
Without revealing the names, the NIA further said that it recorded the statements of four of the accused personnel upon the information of money flow from Pakistan. The officials added that the statements made the case stronger as they were key statements in the case of alleged funding of stone pelters and the unrest in the valley. Stone pelting activities and secessionist activities had over the last year claimed many lives creating a severe unrest in the valley.
The officials further revealed that three of the four accused have been arrested however the fourth was let off upon his agreement to turn approver. The agency refrained from naming any of the four individuals.
