Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Bhushan Kumar will collaborate on a film on the Balakot airstrike conducted by the Indian Air Force in February this year. Promoted as a “story that celebrates the accomplishments” of the Indian Air Force, the movie will be directed by Abhishek Kapoor.
It will be the second film on the February 26 airstrike against terror outfits in Balakot in Pakistan after Vivek Oberoi’s film Balakot – The True Story.
Major Gafoor Tweeted: With due respect to WC Abhinandan as a soldier, yes the dream could only be fulfilled through Bollywood. Denial of sham strike on 26 Feb and wreckage of 2 IAF jets shot by PAF on 27 Feb will haunt you despite that.
The wing commander, Abhinandan was shot down by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) during an aerial encounter between the two air forces while India also claimed to have shot down a Pakistani F-16.
