Pakistan Lodges Protest With UAE Over Honouring Modi; FM Qureshi Says Will Share Facts On Kashmir

Pakistan has reportedly lodged a protest with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over its decision to present its highest civilian award – The Order of Zayed to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Pakistan has consistently accused the Indian government of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir and off-late even linked the Modi government to Nazi Germany.

Although no official statement was issued by the Pakistan Foreign Office, however, Islamabad reportedly called the UAE’s ambassador and expressed its disappointment over its decision. Pakistan, as per reports, asked the UAE to review its decision owning to Modi government’s brutal crackdown and imposing oppressive restrictions on movement and communication in Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani has cancelled his trip to the UAE in view of PM Modi’s recent tour to the Gulf nation as it would “hurt the feelings of the Kashmiri people”.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has expressed confidence that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) leadership would not disappoint Pakistan once ‘facts’ with regards to Indian brutalities in Jammu and Kashmir are put forward by Islamabad.

Qureshi said people must understand that the UAE and India enjoy robust bilateral relations with thousands of Indian expatriates working in the country. “However, Pakistan also enjoys cordial relations with the UAE and once facts will be presented to them, I am hopeful that they won’t disappoint Pakistan.”
