Pakistan, OIC Blast India Over Demonizing & Discriminating Muslims

Pakistan, as well as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), has denounced the malicious Islamophobic campaign in India demonizing Muslims for the spread of coronavirus infection besides the negative campaign in the media leading to discrimination and violence.

PM Khan followed up on tweets by the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the OIC on the issue and compared the Indian government’s treatment of Muslims with the Nazis.

In a tweet, the OIC-IPHRC prompted the Modi government to take necessary steps to stop the growing tide of Islamophobia in India and protect the rights of its persecuted Muslim minority as per its obligations under international human rights law.

Also, PM Imran Khan hit out at his Indian counterpart for “targeting” the minority Muslim community, describing it as an attempt to divert backlash from coronavirus lockdown, “which has left thousands hungry”.

Indian authorities have blamed the Muslim Tableeghi Jamaat members for spreading the coronavirus cases in the country.

Meanwhile, President Arif Alvi shared data on India’s “torture and suppression” in Jammu and Kashmir. “There is one ventilator for every 71,000 people, one doctor for every 3,900 people, and one soldier for every nine people in the Muslim-majority region,” President Alvi claimed.
