During the visit, both sides are expected to sign agreements on Strategic Economic Framework (SEF) and on bilateral cooperation in 71 sectors, including investment, defence production and banking and finance.

After skipping the KL summit in Malaysia, Pakistan is working aggressively to mend ties with Turkey and Malaysia. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had blamed Pakistan for succumbing to Saudi pressure and boycotting the Kuala Lumpur Summit.

While Turkey is a traditional ally of Pakistan, Erdogan has made collective efforts to further expand ties with Islamabad. Erdogan’s visit to Pakistan in February will further deteriorate Turkey’s ties with India.

Meanwhile, PM Imran will visit Malaysia in the first week of February for talks with his Malaysian counterpart, Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Imran will also meet Malaysian businessmen and invite them to invest in Pakistan. Sources said the schedule of Imran’s visit will be finalised soon.
