Talking about the clampdown and restrictions imposed in Kashmir, the National Security Adviser said that he would like to see all restrictions be done away with but that will only depend on how Pakistan will behave. He asserted that Pakistan has not only been trying to encourage infiltration but is also smuggling weapons and the people in Jammu and administered Kashmir are being provoked to go rogue.

Tensions have been high between the two nations ever since the Pulwama attack took place claiming lives of more than 50 Indian security personnel. India responded by conducting preemptive air raids in Balakot claiming to have killed scores of terrorists.

Then the declaration of abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35 A by the Indian government further escalated bilateral tensions post which Pakistan had threatened India in all possible ways and has also tried to mobilize international support against India.
