Pakistani Protesters Stage Demonstration Near Indian Consulate in Birmingham, UK

Hundreds of Pakistanis and Kashmiris from Pakistan controlled Kashmir protested in the UK against the abrogation of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. The protestors expressed their anger against New Delhi’s move on Jammu and Kashmir and demonstrated near the Consulate General of India in Birmingham (a region heavily inhibited by Pakistani immigrants)

Addressing the protest, the little know Tehreek-e-Kashmir leader, Kayani said: “The people of Britain will not rest until Kashmir is liberated from Indian occupation and genocide perpetrators are punished. Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris have been killed in a ‘dirty war’ waged by the Hindutva forces only to quell legitimate their self-determination movement.”

We condemn India’s move to revoke Kashmir’s autonomy, Kayani said, “The abrogation of the special status of IoK is an act of ultimate aggression. India’s decision is part of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and MS Golwalkar ideologies that ensure the Muslims of India remain a second-class citizenry.”

Kayani added such attempts were an open contravention of the United Nations (UN) resolutions on Kashmir which prohibit any unilateral action to change the disputed nature of the Kashmir state.

“Indian government has announced Kashmir is no longer a disputed territory and will be merged with India. This will mean an end to the 70-year struggle for Kashmiris right of self-determination. It is time the world powers must realise that the right-wing agenda in India is paving a way to further the military conflict with Pakistan and China.”

Massive Protests in Kashmir Valley

Meanwhile, as reported by India Today, the Jammu and Kashmir police used tear gas and pellets to control over 10,000 people protesting Modi Governments’ decision on Jammu and Kashmir.

The protest commenced after Friday prayers and has been the biggest demonstration in the region after New Delhi locked down the volatile region, snapping telephone, internet services and detaining over 500 political and separatist leaders.

The protestors were pushed back by police at Aiwa bridge, where a witness said tear gas and pellets were used against them. “Some women and children even jumped into the water,” a witness said at Srinagar’s Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).

“They (police) attacked us from two sides,” another witness said. The police officer said 12 people had been admitted to two hospitals after suffering pellet injuries. “There were around 10,000 people at the protest in Soura,” the police officer said. “This was the biggest so far.
