A team of the United Nations has held the top military officials of Myanmar responsible for the Rohingya crisis. Investigators of the United Nations team stated that the top generals of the Myanmar Army must be prosecuted for the human rights violations inflicted by the army on Rohingya Muslims in the Rakhine state. These refugees are now awaiting a dignified return to the Rakhine state.

As reported by South China Morning Post, The United Nations has urged for an international probe into the matter and has demanded that the army chief of Myanmar along with five other top army men be prosecuted for the Rohingya carnage.
More than 700,000 Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh after a crackdown by the Myanmar army in the northern Rakhine state. Rohingyas were murdered, assaulted and even raped by the Myanmar army following which they fled in large numbers. Rohingya refugee crisis is one of the biggest refugee crisis that the world has ever seen and all of it happened at the behest of the Myanmar army.
The United Nations even termed the Rohingya crisis as being an act of ‘ethnic cleansing.’ Myanmar fetched global criticism for the large-scale crackdown on the Rohingyas but it has denied all allegations saying that the crackdown was meant to tame the Rohingya Rebels.
The UN on Monday stated that the top army generals should be detained for human rights violations and war crimes committed by the army in Rakhine, Kachin and Shan states of the largely Buddhist nation.
The UN stated that the acts of the Myanmar army were completely disproportionate to the security threats cited by the government of Myanmar. This fact-finding mission of the United Nations which submitted its report on Monday was set up under the Human Rights Council in March 2017 to investigate the human rights violations carried out by the army.
