Over 1,000 companies from almost 70 countries will take part in DefExpo 2020 which will be held in the capital of India’s most populous state – Uttar Pradesh. The DefExpo 2020 to be held in Lucknow from February 5-9, the Defence Ministry said.
The US India Business Council (USIBC) that represents top American companies in India is taking a high-powered delegation of the US defence companies to DefExpo 2020.
Besides the US, Russian companies including Almaz-Antey will be present at the DefExpo 2020. They are expected to present the export version of Kalibr cruise missiles besides the Viking surface-to-air missile system.
The Viking is the export version of Russia’s ‘infamous’ Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile system, Almaz-Antey announced. Viking, the latest multi-missile mobile medium-range air defence missile system (ADMS) from Russia, will be presented for the first time in India at DefExpo 2020.
Viking is the next generation of the Buk ADMS line. In comparison with Buk-M2E, its range of fire has raised nearly by 1.5 times – up to 65 kilometers. Moreover, it can engage more ariel targets simultaneously reports the defenceworld.
Russia is also set to showcase the 3M-14T Kalibr-NK at the DefExpo 2020. The missile is a land-attack cruise missile with a range between 1,500 – 2,500 km. The missile is believed to fly 64 ft above the sea and 164 ft above the ground at speeds up to 965 km/hour. It is believed to be guided, using GPS and terminal-phase active radar seekers to achieve a reported three meters radius accuracy.
