Russia is all set to develop submarines which will be ‘invisible’ to enemy radars. Russia celebrated its Navy Day on Thursday and on the eve of this occasion the head scientist of the Krylov State Research Center Valery Polovinkin revealed Russia’s plans about its future submarines. Polovinkin said that the future submarines will be made of such a material which will keep them untraceable and thus invisible from the enemy.

As reported by Tass, the scientist stated on the eve of the Navy Day that the sheathing of the future submarines will be made of metamaterials. The metamaterials will facilitate the submarines to trace impact and at the same time save the submarines from being traced.
The metamaterials are composite materials and are structured especially to achieve desired changes in properties. They exhibit properties which are not usually found in the natural materials. These materials have a negative refractive index.
Polovinkin said that if the sheathing of the submarines is built with such a material then any locator or acoustic signal will avert the submarine hence making it invisible to the enemy. He also said that there is the feasibility of developing such an invincible submarine.
Polovinkin explained that this can be achieved if the dimensions of the submarines are decreased and there is a notional division into strategic and multi-purpose ships.
He also stated that the classification of these submarines will be based on the weapons and the firepower carried by them. He said that as weapons would improve gradually, the difference among different classes of submarines will get skewed.
If such submarines become a reality then it will bolster Russia’s naval strength to being almost invincible. Russia’s is constantly innovating on its defence and weaponry and there is every reason why enemies must fear the military might of Putin’s Russia. The future generation weaponry of Russia is going to be too hot for the enemies to handle.
