After S-400, Russia Prepares to Launch S-500 Air Defence System

After the much success of S-400 Air Defence System, Russia is all set to launch S-500 Air Defence System. As stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, efforts are required to improve anti-precision warfare tools and called for the mass production of S-500 missile defence systems.

“One of the most important tasks is to further enhance the anti-precision warfare system of the Russian armed forces. It is imperative to develop and strengthen the technological base  in the area of air defence which can eventually lead to the mass production of the S-500 Air Defence System, proficient of striking targets as high as near-the-earth space,” said the Russian President

President Putin also called for continued efforts to improve the strategic nuclear forces and reinstalling the regiments with YARS ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) systems before the end of the year.

“Strategic nuclear forces are vital for Russian defence and security,” he said. “As per the policy for the state program for armaments, we’ll continue to replace and modernize the outdated Topol missile complexes with the latest, state of art YARS missile systems.

President Putin also said that Russia’s nuclear triad will be enhanced with advanced Tu-95MS and Tu-160 strategic bombers, which have the capacity to carry superior X-101 and X-102 cruise missiles. He added that the construction of five Borey-class strategic nuclear submarines must be completed on time.

Putin stated that in recent years, Moscow has been aggressively working on to improve the capabilities of Russian armed forces. “Their composition and numbers have been optimized, frequent anomaly checks are being carried out systematically in all the military facilities, and all military units will be boosted with latest weapons and equipment.

The Russian President added that this year Russia manufactured advanced weapons systems, which have been much superior to the international competitors. While addressing the Russian Federal Assembly, President Putin talked about the tests of new strategic weapons, including the Sarmat ICBM, the Kinzhal hypersonic complex, a nuclear cruise missile, besides the underwater drone proficient to carry both conventional and nuclear weapons.
