Pablo Picasso is again in the headlines. In an auction held in New York, his painting has been sold for $45 million. In Indian currency this amount stands at almost 3 Billion INR. This Picasso painting named ‘Seated Women in Blue Dress’ belongs to one of her many lovers, Dora Maar.

During the Second World War, the Nazis had seized this painting, but the French soldiers redeemed it while moving from Paris to Moravia. In the year 2015, Picasso’s painting ‘Women of Algiers’ was auctioned by the Auction House Christie. The painting was sold at a records price at $ 179 million or about 46 million INR.

‘Seated Women in Blue Dress’ was purchased by a US collector and it was sold for $26 million, six years ago. The relationship between Dora Mar and Picasso lasted for nearly nine years. Picasso made this picture of Dora in 1939. Then Picasso was 58 years old and Dora 31.
