Sunny Deol, Sidhu To Visit Pakistan To Inaugurate Kartarpur Corridor Tomorrow

Bollywood superstar Sunny Deol and Najjot Singh Sidhu are scheduled to visit Pakistan on Saturday to attend the inauguration ceremony of the Kartarpur Corridor. Confirmation of Deol’s arrival in Pakistan was also given by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, CM of Indian Punjab.

The actor turned politician is a BJP lawmaker from India’s Gurdaspur district.’  Various Indian media outlets also reported that the Indian Prime Minister’s Office has authorised Punjab Congress Leader, Navjot Singh Sidhu, to visit Pakistan and take part in the Kartarpur Corridor opening ceremony.

Sidhu had sought permission from the external affairs ministry to attend the event, after receiving an invitation by Pakistani PM Imran Khan.

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar who was also invited to attend the inaugural ceremony of the Kartarpur corridor has expressed his inability to attend the mega event. An invitation letter sent to Ravi Shankar said the opening of the Kartarpur corridor and the promotion of religious tourism “coincides with your objective of [a] Violence-Free World”.

The 3-km Kartarpur corridor will allow Sikh pilgrims direct access to the Gurudwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, now in Pakistan, where Guru Nanak Dev passed away in 1539. It links Pakistan’s Narowal district to Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur in Punjab, India.
