Washington Rejects US-Russia Military Collaboration Proposal in Syria

The US will not cooperate with Russia in the Syrian War. The US-Russia relations were expected to shape for better after the Trump-Putin summit in Helsinki but that does not seem to be the case. The US has refused to cooperate with the Russian Army in Syria. This was stated by US Defence Secretary James Mattis.

After the Trump-Putin summit, Russia proposed that Washington and Moscow must work together to ensure the safe return of the Syrian refugees. James Mattis said that as of now, there are no plans to cooperate with Russia on the issue of the Syrian refugees.

James Mattis also confirmed that this matter was a part of the bilateral discussion between the US and Russia during the meeting between the two Presidents in Helsinki. Russia and the US are carrying out two entirely different military campaigns in Syria and the US officials were shocked over Russia’s proposals to work in tandem with each other.

Russia is assisting the Syrian government of Bashar Al-Assad in its cause to fight the ISIS terrorists, and on the other hand, the US has been attacking Syria since 2014. The US is aiding the militants fighting the Bashar Al-Assad government as reported by the PressTV.

Pentagon clarified that a coordination with the Russian troops will require special permissions from the US. The US has held Russia responsible for the refugee chaos at the very first place and does not seem interested to extend any sort of cooperation to the Russian troops.

The only coordination which pertains between the two as of now is that of a hotline which has been established to ensure safety against any mishaps involving the ground troops of the two or the aircraft. Mattis stated that nothing additional will be done until the President gives a go-ahead after figuring out the possibilities.
