2018 May See Highest Recruitment of Terrorists in Kashmir: Indian Army

According to the Indian Indian Army, Terrorism in Kashmir continued to attract locals as 110 Kashmiri youths joined militant outfits in 2018. Most of these youngsters who have joined terror outfits come from the highly volatile and vulnerable regions of South Kashmir with the Sophian district being the hub militant recruitments.

India’s very own youngsters joining feared terror organizations including the ISIS Kashmir and Ansar Ghazwat Ul Hind is a cause of worry. Ansar Ghazwat Ul Hind is a terror outfit that claims to be backed by Al Qaeda and the presence of ISIS in Kashmir is a proven fact now.

The security agencies also stated that most of the recruitments into these militant organizations have been from Sophian, Anantnag, Pulwama, Awantipora and Kulgam districts of South Kashmir. Sophian alone accounted for 28 youngsters joining militant organizations by July 15. These five regions amounted to 91 recruits in total and it is expected that these numbers might escalate even further.

2018 Might See The Highest Recruitments: Officials

If the present trend is to continue then 2018 may see the highest ever recruitment of Kashmiri youth in the militant organizations. Last year 126 Kashmiri youngsters chose to pick guns and this year the number already is 110.

A wrong conceptualization of the notion of independence is driving educated youngsters to pick guns. The list for this year includes Junaid Sehrai who holds a degree in MBA and a PhD Scholar names Mannan Wani.

It is strange to see that such highly educated youngsters are falling into the trap set by the separatist voices and the militant outfits. What drives these youngsters to oversee logic and uprightness? Can guns ever solve the issue of Kashmir? The security forces also stated that the infiltration is on a rise and a lot of terrorists have sneaked into India through the LoC.
