Three More Kashmiri Militants Killed In Encounter With Indian Security Forces In Srinagar

Three Kashmiri militants were killed by Indian security forces in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital, officials said on Sunday.

Vijay Kumar, inspector general of police in Kashmir, said the militants were involved in the killing of two personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF) near Pandach Chowk on May 20 during Ramzan.

The encounter between militants and security forces had erupted after a CASO (cordon and search operation) was launched in Zadibal and Zoonimar Pozwalpora localities of Srinagar following intelligence.

Police said parents of the cornered militants were brought to the encounter site and asked to surrender but they refused to do so. “Through our sources, we go to know of their identity and called their parents who appealed to them to surrender. But they didn’t relent,” Vijay Kumar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI earlier in the day.

“Two of them are active since 2019. One was involved in attack on two BSF (Border Security Force) jawans last month,” Kumar added.

Yesterday, Indian border forces shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) allegedly belonging to Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir. The Border Security Force (BSF) shot down the Hexacopter drone carrying a variety of arms at the Pansar border outpost in Kathua district.

“Alert troops of BSF shot down a Pakistani Hexacopter drone carrying 01 M4 carbine machine (US Made), 02 filled magazines (60 Rds), 07 Chinese grenades,” the BSF said in a statement on Twitter.

The BSF has released images of what it said were pieces of the drone. An investigation has been launched to find out to who the consignment was to be delivered, the official said.
