A three-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped, raped and later beheaded by two men. The little girl was abducted from a platform of the Tatanagar railway station in Jharkhand where she was sleeping with her monther, police said on Wednesday.
The local police recovered the torso of the girl from some bushes on Tuesday night as sniffer dogs have been pressed into service to locate the head, Superintendent of Police (Railway) Ehtesham Waquarib said.
CCTV footage showed a man walking with the sleeping child in his arms. The man identified as Rinku Saha was recently released from the prison for kidnapping a child and attempting to kill her in 2015.
Saha’s mother is a constable and she said her son was a repeat offender. Police used the footage to nab three men, including the two believed to have raped and killed the toddler.
The 3-year-old’s mother, a divorcee, also reportedly told the police that she suspected her partner — with whom she was travelling from West Bengal’s Purulia — was also involved in the crime. He is the third person to have been arrested in the case.
